Why our MOQ is 500 pieces and what that gets you

Gifthxs prints personalised money packets from 500 pieces in one design, starting at RM 488. A print run has fixed set-up work, so the per-piece price falls as the quantity rises, from about RM 0.98 at 500 to about RM 0.38 at 5,000. Your logo, greeting and QR code are included, and delivery in West Malaysia is free.

What 500 pieces looks like in real life

Five hundred packets is a smaller number than most first-time buyers expect. Packed 10 to a pack, it is 50 packs. Take an SME with 60 staff, 150 clients and a handful of suppliers. That company can give every one of them a packet at Chinese New Year and still have a few packs left over for the walk-in visitors who turn up in the first week.

A small office team sorts stacks of red money packets into piles on a meeting table, with a laptop and a notepad of names beside them.

The people who buy from us fall into two groups. SME owners usually order 500 to 5,000 pieces. Corporate teams usually order 5,000 to 100,000. The 500 floor is there for the first group, so a business with a modest guest list can still carry its own name on the packet instead of a generic one.

Why a print run has a floor at all

Nearly every packet printed in volume goes through some form of offset printing, where the artwork is prepared, the press is set up and the colours are checked before the first good sheet comes off. That work costs about the same whether the run is 50 pieces or 5,000. Spread it over 50 pieces and each packet carries a heavy share. Spread it over 500 and the share becomes reasonable.

A neat stack of freshly printed red sheets with crop marks, resting on a trimming table under a single soft light.

This is why the price list does not rise in a straight line. The first 500 pieces carry the set-up. Every extra batch after that mostly pays for paper, ink and finishing. A floor of 500 is where we think a single-design run starts to make sense for the buyer, and we price it so that the jump from 500 to 1,000 is much smaller than the jump from nothing to 500.

The Run-Size Ladder: what each step costs per piece

We call this the Run-Size Ladder. Each rung is a quantity on the single-design price list, and the per-piece figure is the total divided by the pieces. These are the 2027 prices for a single design with no finishing.

Quantity Total price Approx. per piece
500 RM 488 RM 0.98
1,000 RM 688 RM 0.69
2,000 RM 988 RM 0.49
3,000 RM 1,288 RM 0.43
4,000 RM 1,588 RM 0.40
5,000 RM 1,888 RM 0.38

Doubling from 500 to 1,000 pieces adds RM 200 to the bill. Going from 500 to 5,000 multiplies the quantity by ten and the price by less than four. If you know you will need 1,000 packets by February anyway, ordering 500 now and 500 later costs more than ordering 1,000 once. For quantities above 5,000, email gifthxs@cubeevo.com for a quote.

What you get with those 500 pieces

The price is for a finished, personalised packet, so a lot is already included.

A Gifthxs money packet in soft-touch finish with a company logo printed on the back panel

Every packet is 170mm high and 82mm wide, printed in full colour on the front on 157gsm art paper, with a soft-touch lamination that feels velvety and matte. Customisation is free. That covers your company logo, contact details, a personalised greeting, a QR code, social handles and adjustments to colour and text. The back panel can carry your logo, company name, website address, social icons, QR code and contact details.

The process around the print is part of the offer too.

  • Three rounds of design revisions are included.
  • A free online proof is sent before printing, usually within about one working day. It checks placement only, not colour accuracy.
  • Delivery within West Malaysia is free.
  • Lead time is 10 to 14 working days from artwork approval.

If your brand colour has to match a guideline exactly, Pantone printing is available at extra cost. Printed colour can still differ from the digital proof by up to 5 percent. Send your logo as AI, SVG or EPS. A JPG or PNG can be traced to vector for a small extra fee.

To start a personalised run, begin with our custom red packet Malaysia page, where you can send the artwork brief.

When to go above 500, and when to stay put

Stay at 500 if this is your first order, your guest list is small, or you want to see how the packet looks in hand before committing more. Go up if your list is growing, if you give to several branches, or if you hand packets to customers at the counter through the whole festive season.

Three other choices change the quantity you need.

  • More than one design. Two designs are priced as 500 of each, so RM 976 for 500 + 500 with no finishing. Four designs start at 2,000 pieces and five designs at 2,500, per the price list.
  • Finishing. At 500 pieces, spot UV is RM 688 and gold or silver stamping is RM 728, against RM 488 with no finishing. Spot UV is the more budget-friendly of the two. Stamping is the most premium.
  • Premium Box. The box add-on is not offered at 500 pieces. It starts at 1,000, adding RM 495 for a single design.

If the box matters to you, 500 is the wrong rung. If it is your logo and a good greeting that matter, 500 is plenty.

When to place the order

The MOQ is only half the planning. The other half is the calendar, because the four weeks before each festival are our busiest.

  • Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday 6 February 2027. Confirm artwork between 12 and 26 December 2026.
  • Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027 is expected around Wednesday 10 March 2027, an estimate until the official gazette. Confirm artwork between 13 and 27 January 2027.

The 2027 festival dates here follow publicholidays.info. Production is 10 to 14 working days after artwork approval, and public holidays fall inside that window, so count working days and not calendar days. Rush orders are available on request, but we cannot promise one in peak season. Mistakes we see on small first orders

  • Ordering 500 pieces split across two designs and expecting RM 488. Two designs are priced as 500 of each.
  • Choosing the Premium Box at 500 pieces. It starts at 1,000.
  • Treating the online proof as a colour check. It confirms where things sit and nothing more.
  • Reading 10 to 14 working days as calendar days.
  • Sending a low-resolution logo on the last day and waiting for the tracing step.
  • Forgetting that East Malaysia delivery is a paid add-on, added automatically at checkout once a Sabah, Sarawak or Labuan address is entered.

A red packet is also only one of several ways to say thank you at the new year.
